Cost Accountant Job Description
A cost accountant is the management control-point where actual costs incurred are accumulated and compared with the budgeted costs. A cost accountant typically reports to the controller or similar position. Cost accountants have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Cost accountants typically have at least three years of experience in a specialty, as well as a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. A designation such as chartered accountant (CA), certified general accountant (CGA) or certified management accountant (CMA) is usually a prerequisite.
